JOB OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS
Our member Mr Raj Valliappan has informed us about opportunity for university students to work at at GM Oshawa for the summer. Please be advised that the application period for 2007 hourly summer vacation replacement opportunities will commence February 1, 2007 and conclude March 5, 2007. Applicants should look for the “2007 Summer Student Program – Oshawa” job posting listing.In order to be eligible to be considered for SVR opportunities, applicants must be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university program and be returning full-time in the Fall of 2007.
Students attending post secondary institutions outside of will not be able to use the on-line application process and will need to contact the Hourly Employment Office directly at (905) 644 6088 to make alternate arrangements

STUDENT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
This is wonderful win-win program for both students and for MACA School.(West End).Student Volunteers, besides getting their hours, they can develop their speaking, facilitation, organization skills while learning or revising their knowledge of Indian Culture and Heritage
.
Under this program, if you are a HighSchool student, you can register with MACA West end school (contact information below) and become a registered Volunteer. The school will engage you for a period of 4 to 6 weeks and provide you a certificate for Volunteer hours. For instance, if you help the MACA West end school for 4 week ends, you can get upto 12 Volunteer hours (i.e. For 4 weeks of 1 hour class and 2 hours preparation time, 4 x 3 =12 hours). Currently we are going to pilot this program and are looking for only 6 Volunteers with a minimum commitment of 4 weeks each
.
Volunteers should be interested in co-facilitating classes on Indian Culture and heritage (study materials will be provided by MACA) to younger students. Volunteers will be supported by the main teachers in the class.High school students with good communication/presentation skills, patience in dealing with younger children and interest in creating innovative methods of teaching using crafts, group activity, painting etc. will be very much preferred.

The first class with Volunteers is scheduled to start from January 28 and classes are held every Sunday from 10-12 noon.

Our member Mr Ashok Iyer has informed us about positions available for Software Professionals who are willing to work in USA. Opportunities are available for JAVA Professionals, Oracle Financials ( Technical and Functional ) or SAP Candidates.Arrangements will be made to process H1 or TN Visa.
